Florence Tucker Cox Passes Here Monday
Mrs. Florence Tucker Cox, 79, a resident of the Fort Benton area for sixty years, died at St. Clare hospital Monday morning, Oct. 15, 1973. Funeral services will be this Thursday at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Florence Tucker was born Sept. 15, 1894, in Decatur, Ind. She came to Montana from Indiana in 1913 and homesteaded in the Pleasant Valley section, north of Fort Benton. She was married to Virgil W. Cox on Dec. 19, 1916.
The couple farmed in Pleasant Valley until they retired in Fort Benton in 1938. Mr. Cox died here Feb. 14, 1964. Mrs. Cox had continued to make her home here until her death. She was a member of the First Christian Church, a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4047, past noble grand of the Fort Benton Rebekahs, member of Bethany Chapter No. 42, OES, Fort Benton Women's Club and White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Mrs. Cox is survived by two sons, Vonley W. Cox of Millegan Route, Great Falls, and Elmer N. Cox of Great Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Speer, Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, T. Nolan Tucker of Fort Benton and Gail Tucker of Great Falls; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Four sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
