"Leo James Taylor - Leo James Taylor of Lebanon died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at his residence. He was 83.

Born May 24, 1919 in Boone County, he was the son of the late Orval Taylor and Bertha McDaniel. On July 8, 1951 he married Mary Frances Lister [sic, Lisher] in Greenfield, who survives.

Taylor graduated from Dover High School in 1937 and lived on the family farm where he was a dairy farmer for many years until retiring in 1989.

He was a elder and a Deacon at the Dover Christian Church and served as the treasurer for the church. Taylor was a member of the Boone County 4-H council, 4-H Fair board and the farm bureau. He served on the Boone County Board of Directors and was State Director of the Dairy Association.

His family was his life.

Survivors include daughters, Judith Downham of Burlington, Barbara Sheets of Martinsville, Martha Richardson of Dover; sons, Robert Taylor of Dover, William Taylor of Dover; sisters, Anna Poynter of Lebanon, Bessie Rice of Dover, Elizabeth Ginn of Dover and one grandchild, who preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, Lebanon. Services will be Monday 11 a.m. at Dover Christian Church with Rev. Mike Frazier and Rev. Jerry Holdman officiating. Burial will be at Dover Cemetery, Dover.

Memorials should be made to Dover Christian Church."
