George Henry Cottam was born in Lake County, Indiana, Sept., 14, 1842, and departed this life at Hubbell, Neb., March 17, 1917, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 3 days. He was married Nov. 14, 1857, to Hannah Shoup; to this union was born six children, four boys and two girls, of whom two boys and two girls are living.
In 1871 they removed to Republic County, Kansas, and in 1879 came to Thayer County, Nebraska, and have lived near Hubbell ever since. For the last two years his health has been very poor, and he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. J.W. Luce.
A Masonic burial service was held at the Maple Grove cemetery Sunday afternoon--The Hubbell Standard.
