Edna Ida Buddingh was born on April 10, 1925 in Platte, S.D. to Feike and Jennie (Winters) Groen.
She lived in South Dakota until she was 13, when her family moved to Ripon, Calif. There, she met the love of her life in high school, Fred Buddingh, and they were married on July 5, 1946 in Ripon. They were married for 54 wonderful years before he preceded her in death on November 29, 2000. Dr. Fred Buddingh was a professor at Texas Tech University Medical School.
Edna was a bookkeeper and legal secretary for Splawn, Simpson and Pitts for 20 years. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 35 years, where she served as an Elder and President of the Women's Guild. She had lived at Windsong/Carillon for ten years, where she helped found the Bible Study Ministry. Edna was dearly loved by all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
Edna is survived by her three children, Gerrit Buddingh and wife Carole of Davis, Calif., Patricia Fader and husband Robert of Temple, David Buddingh and wife Jeanne of Naperville, Ill.; seven grandchildren; brother, Rein Groen; and sister, Hattie Hansum. She was also preceded in death by seven siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 7702 Indiana Ave., Lubbock, TX 79423.
