Hattie Hansum, 97, of Platte, SD went to her eternal rest on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Platte Care Center.

Hattie (Groen) Hansum was born near Platte, SD to Fred and Jenny (Winters) Groen on March 8, 1915. On December 23, 1937 she was united in marriage to Adrian Hansum at the Platte Christian Reformed Church and lived on a farm near Platte most of her life. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her family, was an active member of the New Holland Christian Reformed Church, Ladies Aid and School, as well as supporting the Platte Hospital. Hattie will be remembered for her cheerful disposition, love of family, and God.

Grateful for having shared in Hattie's life: her son, Bruce (Ruth) Hansum of Sioux Falls, SD; her daughter, Norma (Glen) Spears of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandchildren: Christina (Steve) Sawinsky, Tina (Tony) Rank and Tonya (Steve) Palazzolo; five great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Marion (Alice) Hansum of Platte, SD; a sister-in-law, Sharon Groen of Placerville, CA; along with several nieces and nephews.

Hattie was preceded in death by: her husband, Adrian (March 1, 2004); her parents, Fred and Jenny; also nine brothers and sisters and their spouses.
