U.S. Army (Ret.).
After graduating from the Clemson University in SC, he became a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. During WW II, he commanded a company of the 42nd Infantry Div. and saw action in England, France, Belgium, Germany, & Austria. He also served a tour of duty in Okinawa, Japan. A pilot, he logged more than 5,000 hours of air time. He retired from the military with 30 years of service in 1971. In 1987 he became Director, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition. In 1994 he retired with 54 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Annie B. Crouch; son, Jay Crouch; sister, Frances "Sis" Kennedy of South Carolina; brother, Dr. Robert D. Crouch of Maryland; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace J. Crouch, Sr. & Inez Breazeale Crouch, and sister, Jean Crouch Thurmond.
Interment with full military honors followed funeral services conducted at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel, Arlington, VA, Tuesday, October 23, 2007.
