Frances Inez"Sis" Crouch Kennedy died Saturday April 9, 2016 at her home. She was the widow of Col. David Hamilton Kennedy, USAF Retired, to whom she married on September 17, 1949, in Elko, SC, and a daughter of the late Horace Johnston Crouch, Sr. and the late Inez Breazeale Crouch. She was born in Elko, SC on October 19, 1921, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a 1942 graduate of Winthrop College and president of the Student Government Association. She was asked to be hostess of a residence hall at Winthrop after she graduated from Winthrop by the college, so she did. She also taught in the public schools of Bamberg, Columbia, and Williston. She served on the board of the Barnwell County Museum and was a member of Williston Presbyterian Church.

Sis enjoyed gardening extensively, was an avid birder, was very handy around the home, and treasured her friends and especially her grandchildren. Sis was always ready for a good laugh. She was very conservative politically and was well informed about governmental issues.

Survivors include her daughters Jean "Jeanie" Elizabeth Kennedy Killey (John Marshall Killey) of Columbia, SC; Elizabeth "Beth" Barnett Kennedy Brooker (Beacham Owens Brooker, III) of Columbia, SC; and Frances "Fran" Breazeale Kennedy Bundy (Robert Jackson Bundy)of Lancaster, SC; grandsons Julian Hamilton Killey and John Robert Killey; granddaughters Elizabeth Kennedy Brooker and Grace Hatcher Brooker; sister-in-law Bernice Brown Crouch; and two nieces and three nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister: Jean Crouch Thurmond; brothers: Col. Horace J. Crouch, Jr. and Dr. Robert D. Crouch, Sr. and sister-in-law, Barbara Christensen Crouch and brother-in-law, Strom Thurmond.

A memorial service will be held at Williston Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at three-thirty p.m.

Her uncle, George Edward Crouch, Jr, gave her the nickname of "Sis"... he called her "Sis Gal"
