Claude E. Mack
Claude E. Mack, 69, longtime operator of a grocery at 821 South Campbell, died at a nursing home here at 3:50 a.m. today after a lingering illness.
Mr. Mack was a native of Greene county. He was a member of a family of grocers. All his brothers operated retail stores here at one time, all in different parts of town. He was active in Republican politics here for a number of years. He was a member of the South Street Christian church.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Mack, former sexton of Maple Park cemetery here, and Marshall Mack, of Marshalltown, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Nannie Spickard, Mrs. Mary Atkins and Mrs. Kate Rule, all of Springfield; a brother, C. A. Mack, and a sister, Mrs. Walter Hunt, both of Springfield, and five grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements, under direction of Herman Lohmeyer, are incomplete, but the Rev. Barton Johnson will officiate and burial will be in Hazelwood, beside his wife.
