Wilbert "Arval" O'Neal, 67, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, at a Kitty Hawk medical facility. Mr. O'Neal, a native of Rodanthe, was the owner and operator of the North Beach Campground in Rodanthe and was a member of the Fairhaven United Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Fred and Beulah Midgett O'Neal and the husband of Jazania Herbert O'Neal of the home. Besides his wife, Mr. O'Neal is survived by two sons: Jerald O'Neal of Rodanthe and Joey O' Neal and wife Virginia of Rodanthe; a daughter-in-law, Sandra O'Neal of Rodanthe, widow of Eddie O'Neal; one daughter, Jonna Midgette and husband Robert of Rodanthe; four sisters: Helen Midgett of Elizabeth City, Zenovah Hooper of Salvo, Lovie Midgett and Olive Patrick, both of Rodanthe; 11 grandchildren: Sunshine, Eddie II, Jerald II, Jessica, Krissan, Joey II, Tegan, Justin, Gennia, Jazania, and Elijah; and one great-grandson, Colby. Funeral services were to be held at Fairhaven United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Warren and the Rev. Berry Taylor to officiate. Burial will be in the O'Neal family cemetery. Twiford's Island Chapel in Hatteras is in charge of arrangements.
