Zenovah Catherine O’Neal Hooper, 100, of Salvo, NC died Monday, October 29, 2018, at Peak Resources – Outer Banks.

A native of Hatteras Island, she was the daughter of the late Beulah Midgett O’Neal and Frederick O’Neal.

For many years, she was the owner and operator of the Salvo Inn. Zenovah was a member of the Outer Banks Rebekah Lodge and a lifetime member of Clarks Bethel United Methodist Church. She served her community in various ways often through her love of baking.

Zenovah is survived by four grandchildren, Cathy Gray, Sandy Moore (Hal), Johnny Burgess Hooper II, and Tiffany Wyche (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Cassie Gray, Krystal Skala (Chris), Jacquelyn Flanagan (David), Addie Moore, Noah Wyche, Jonah Wyche, Luke Wyche, Matthew Hooper, Chris Hooper (Victoria), Ciera Hooper (David), Kelsea Smith, Korey Harris, Charles Bragg, Christopher Brunner, Shane Brunner, Daniel O’Neal, Brandon O’Neal, Jesse O’Neal, and Tiara O’Neal; one sister, Lovie Midgett; one sister-in-law, Jazania O’Neal; and one daughter-in-law, Linda Hooper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Burgess Hooper; two daughters, Catherine Yvonne Harris and Joan Annette O’Neal; one son, Johnny B. Hooper; three great-grandchildren, Kirk Harris, Vivian O’Neal, and Stacey O’Neal; and seven siblings.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Clarks Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy Fitch and Rev. Chris Noble officiating. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life gathering at the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Center. Private burial will take place in the Hooper family cemetery in Salvo, NC.
