Clara had been recovering from pneumonia contracted 24MAR2008 when she finally died at her daughter's home – that of Irene POMEROY.
Her OBIT revealed "…Clara worked as a waitress and short-order cook in many different restaurants including all three that the infamous Juanita Musson ran in the Valley; also Billie's restaurant located where Sonoma Marketplace is, the Sonoma Mission Inn, and L & N Donut Shop where Movie Merchants is now.
In the 1970s and 1980s, she loved traveling and camping with her family members and joined them on many trips. She also enjoyed gardening into her 90s and going to Reno on bus trips with the Golden Age Club where she was a member for many years. She loved to crochet and sew and played Bingo at Seven Flags until about three weeks before her death…"
She is a cancer survivor, having survived breast cancer at the age of 94.
In 1936, Rex fell in a hay loft and broke his back forcing He and Clara to buy an old boxcar and convert it into a home which they lived in for three years while working for the WPA in Austin MN. In 1941, Rex moved to Boyes Hot Springs CA to work as a carpenter and ship wright - later working at Basalt Ship Yard, Mare Island Navy Ship Yard, and Hunter's Pt. Ship Yard in the San Francisco Bay area.
