The eldest of three sons of Floyd LeRoyal and Ida Elizabeth "Libby" Elliott Haddock [Smith], he married Lonnette Anna Ansley 16 Sep 1967. They had one son.

He received a B.S in political science and an LLB from U. of Illinois at Champaign. He was in private law practice in Pittsfield, IL for 25 years where he also edited the Pike Press. He was then assistant press secretary for the Illinois House from 2001-2007.

Gary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic church and of the Academy of Lifelong Learning at LLCC in Springfield. He was accomplished on the bagpipes and enjoyed Tai Chi. Shortly before his death he began extensive research into his family genealogy. His research is the basis of his family record here.

He found life a joy and always looked for new experience to celebrate with humor and verve.

Gary was cremated. His ashes were scattered. He is placed here to facilitate finding him.
