Son of Thomas McKinley and Lillian Stewart Haddock, he married Ida Elizabeth "Libby" Elliott on 8 Oct 1940 in Davenport, IA. They had three sons. Two months after the birth of his third son, Thomas Eugene, he was drafted and was overseas by Dec. 1944,landing at Marseilles, France.

Floyd was a Pfc in 7th Army, 70th Div. Co K, of the 274th Infantry in WW II. He died of a direct hit by Nazi mortar. His outfit had been sent to Alsace-Lorraine to push across the Rhine into Germany. He was originally buried in Plot 3D, row 19, grave 7586, US Military Cem. Epinal, France.

In July, 1947, the War Dept. returned his body and, with full military honors, he was interred in Decatur near his parents' graves on May 26,1948.
