William Joseph (Bill) Matteson, 69, of Buffalo died in St. John's Hospital Jan. 29 at 1:30 p.m. following a lingering illness.
A native of Polk County, he had spent most of his life in the state of Oregon and the state of Washington, where he was employed in apple orchards and nurseries. He moved to Buffalo two years ago.
He is survived by three sons, William Jr. and Bobby, both of Texas; and Jimmie, of the state of Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Lenora Meyer of St. Charles; Mrs. Verona Rogers of Oklahoma; Mrs. Alta Haynes, state of Washington; two brothers, Hobart Matteson of Idaho and Thomas Matteson of Oregon.
Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at Pitts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Leininger officiating. George Baker was soloist. Burial was in Enon Cemetery south of Bolivar.
