Was Well Known In Tyrone

Solomon Beyer, who died at his home
at Franklinville, Tuesday Evening,
April 9, was well known in Tyrone.
His death followed an illness of seven
weeks from a complication of diseases.
He was aged 74 years, 6 months and 2
days. A son of David and Christina
Beyer, he was born near Bell's Mills,
now Bellwood, October 7, 1882.
At the Age of nine with his parents
he moved to Clearfield county, they
being the first settlers. In March, 1895,
he moved to Franklinville, in Huntingdon
county, where he resided until death.
On May 24, 1860, he was united in marriage
to Elizabeth M. Shoff, of Becaria
township, Clearfield county. To this
union Were born five children, of whom
two have preceded him to the grave,
Clarissa at the age of 21, and Furman
at the age of 22. To mourn his death
there remain his wife and three children
— Mrs. Neal Griffith, of Ramey; D.H. Beyer
of Franklinville; and Mrs. Homer Donnelly,
of ?. Fifteen grand-children; one brother,
John Beyer, of Smoke Run; and two sisters,
Mrs. Mary Shugarts, of Clearfirld, and Mrs.
Lewis Warren, of Goffs, Kansas, also survives.
Mr. Beyer enlisted in Co. H, 110th
P. V. V. infantry on Sept. 8, 1862, and
served until the close of the war. He
was a consistent member of the Methodist
Episcopal church for fifty-five years.
He took an active part in everything
pertaining to church work.
The funeral took place from his late
residence in Franklinville and was conducted
by Rev. Mr. J.H. Diebel, of
Ramey, assisted by Rev. Mr. McKelvey,
of Dungarvin. Interment at Franklinville
cemetery.
