Calverea R. Cone, 75, of Sparta, died Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, La Crosse. She worked as an aide for 5 years and then went into nurses school. She worked 20 years at Central WI Center for the developmentally handicapped in Madison, WI. She then worked at Maplewood in Sauk City, WI and Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta. She retired in April 1992 due to Arthritis.
Calverea is survived by her son Eugene of Sparta; a daughter, Ruth (Virgil) Ballweg of Sauk City; a daughter in law, Cheryl of De Forest, WI; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Warren (Caren) Abbott of Silver Springs, NV; 4 sisters, June Goodenough of Cataract, Anna Mae Pollack of Angelo, LaVonne (John) Shawley and Sharon (Robert) Edmison of Cataract.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Sr.; her sons, Earl Jr., Michael, Timothy, and Paul; a daughter, Ada Marie; her parents; brothers, Ben Byron, Bernard, Basil, Bill, and Spencer; and sisters, Inez Deters and Henrietta Taholski.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Randy Larson officiating. Burial will be Cataract Cemetery, Cataract.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
