Shirley Kathryn Brady Trautman was born November 16, 1921 in Boise, Idaho. She was the second of five children born to John Andrew Brady and Ennis Courtney Shirley. She married George Rufus Waters In Boise, ID on May 23, 1939. They had one child, Eugene Rufus Waters who died as a toddler. The marriage ended in Divorce. She married William Lester Lyon in Boise on June 8, 1942. They had one son. The marriage ended in divorce. She married William Joseph Handley on March 27, 1947, they divorced less than a year later. She married George Carl Porter on December 10, 1948. They had 3 children together. The marriage ended in divorce. She married Ralph G. "DUKE" Trautman in April 1977. Duke died in May of 1977.

Shirley worked as a bartender in Boise for many years and she worked as a waitress. She worked for Chapin's for several years prior to retiring in 1977.

Shirley's life was not easy. She struggled to survive each day as she suffered with great depression and alcoholism. She loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself and she was the epitome of the protective 'mother bear' if anybody tried to come between her and 'her cubs'. She tried to be a good mother.

She was unlucky at love until she and Duke married. They had been friends since they were kids and knew each other well.

Shirley was only 57 years old when she died of a heart attack at the home she and Duke shared on Colorado Ave.
At the time of her death, she was survived by three sons and a daughter, five grandchildren, one brother, two sisters, and her mother.

She was a member of the Catholic Church and although she had not attended mass for many years, she prayed her rosary and kept her bible close to her filled with her most cherished treasurers including a dried flower and small ribbon from the funeral of her first born son. She grieved for him until she could finally hold him again in heaven.
