Charles was the son of Susanna Kingman and Chilton Latham. He had 6 siblings: Jane, Arthur, James, Robert, Joseph, Susanna and Mary. He married Susanna Woodward on March 24, 1724 in Bridgewater, MA. They had 7 children: Bettie, Susanna, Chilton, Jane, Woodward, Mary and James.

Charles was a mason and carpenter. He was a 5th generation of Mayflower descent.
