Services Held Friday for Mrs. Hooper

Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. E. C. Hooper, a long-time resident of Ochiltree county, who died Wednesday night in a local hospital.

Mrs. Hooper was one of the early day residents of Ochiltree county. She and her husand came to the county in 1903, where they filed on land in the Blodgett community in the southwest part of the county.

In 1944, Mr. and Mrs. Hooper moved to Amarillo to make their home. For the past few months she had been in Perryton with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Nies.

Mary Kate Davis was born July 28, 1877 at Hillsboro, Texas. She was married to Eddie Colquit Hooper on March 5, 1899 at Mangum, Oklahoma, and the couple lived at Granite, Oklahoma for a short time before moving to Alanreed, Texas. They came to Ochiltree County from Alanreed in 1903.

Mrs. Hooper joined the Christian church as a girl, but after her marriage joined the Baptist chruch with her husband. In 1949 she joined the Christian church again.

J. W. McKinney conducted the final rites at the First Christian church. Pallbearers were Calvin Flowers, Dan Archer, Arch Talley, Irvin Hergert, Lake Patton and John Sammons.

Survivors include the husband, E. C. Hooper; two daughters, Mrs. Nies and Mrs. Alberta Jacobs, Wichita, Kansas, a son, Clyde Hooper of Colorado; a sister Mrs. P. A. Lyons of Lancaster, California, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Ochiltree cemetery.
