"Cassandra E. Ownbey was born February 8, 1839, in Adair county. She passed from this life to that beyond February 21, 1908, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dr. A. G. Hildreth, Webster Groves, Mo. Mrs. Corbin lived in Adair county the whole of her life and was one of its oldest and most highly respected citizens. She was married February 24, 1859, to Early Corbin, who survives to mourn the loss of a devoted companion and affectionate wife.

To this union were born ten children, two of whom passed away before the mother. William died at the age of eleven years; Charles E. at the age of thirty-two within recent years. The other children are: Mrs. Emma C. Burke and Mrs. E. A. Henderson, both of Sterling, Colo.; Mrs. Dr. A. G. Hildreth of Webster Groves; Mrs. Dr. Charles Sommer of Cambridge, Md.; Mrs. Dr. J. W. Skidmore of Corinth, Miss.; Mrs. Dr. A. M. Glasgow of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Dr. E. L. Corbin of Aberdeen, S.D.; Grant Corbin of Altus, Okla., all of whom were present at the funeral except Mrs. Burke, Mrs. Summers and Grant Corbin.

Mrs. Wm. Herron, a sister, and three brothers, Messers George, William and Benjamin Ownbey mourn the loss of a sister, and were present at the funeral. One brother was unable to be present at the service.

Mrs. Corbin was a member of the Presbyterian church at the time of her death and was a most excellent woman. She had been a long sufferer and welcomed the release which death brought to her. She was anxious to go, assured that the eternal rest of the Father's house was hers.

The funeral service was conducted from the Presbyterian church by the pastor, Rev. W. C. Templeton, on Sabbath afternoon, February 23. The interment was in Llewellyn cemetery.

The aged companion and children of the deceased have the sympathy and prayers of a large circle of friends and acquaintances in Kirksville and elsewhere." The Kirksville Graphic (Kirksville, Missouri), March 6, 1908
