James Daniel Burks, age 91, of Bessemer, AL, passed away on November 14, 2008. He was born January 20, 1917 in China Grove, Alabama.

James served in the Army during World War II, he retired from U.S. Steel after 30 yrs, he was a member of Vestavia Primitive Baptist Church and a deacon, and the Heart of Dixie Camping Club.

Graveside Services will be held at Montevallo City Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Elders Tom Blair and Sam Bryant officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 4:30 - 6:30 P.M. at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home in Pleasant Grove.

Survivors: wife of 70 years, Sybil Burks; children, Dianne (Warren) Ulch, Jim (Beverly) Burks; grandchildren, Karen (Wayne) Harrison, Kevin (Mami) Ulch, Karla (Gary) Brooks, Jody (Eric) Edwards, Bryan (Lisa) Burks; great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Daniel and Seth Harrison, Drew and Jamie Ulch, Emma and Garrett Brooks, Sara and Thomas Edwards, Makayla Burks and Brayden; sisters, Louise McGee of Gulf Breeze, FL, Sara Glaze of Sweetwater, TN; brothers, Vernon (Emily) Burks of Mesa, AZ, Albert Burks of Round Rock, TX; sister-in-law, Annie Pearl Burks of Troy, AL; nieces and nephews.
