The Leader Courier (Kingman, KS) – August 19, 1948:
Pioneer Resident Buried Saturday. Settled First Near Cleveland, Kansas, Sixty-Four Years Ago.
Frank Reiter passed away in St. Francis Hospital in Wichita August 11, following a serious illness of short duration. He had been in failing health in recent years. Frank Reiter, one of 12 children of John and Anna Reiter, was born in Farina, IL, on September 18, 1863. He came to Kansas in 1884 when he was 21 years of age, and located at Cleveland. He later moved to Eureka township. On July 2, 1903, he was united in marriage with Ida Mae Benson in Kingman and to this union two sons were born. Mr. Reiter was a member of the Methodist Church in Kingman. He retired from the farm in 1937 and moved to his own at 430 Avenue A West in Kingman. Surviving relatives are his widow of the home; two sons, Raymond of Wichita and Wilbur of Kingman, one stepdaughter, Mrs. Meryle Mason of Fredonia; nine grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Stafford of Oklahoma City; and one brother, Sam Reiter of Morrisonville, IL, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Livingston Chapel, Saturday, August 14, at 2 p.m. with Arthur Fleming, pastor of the Christian church in charge. Burial was made in the Kingman Cemetery.
