He was the son of Lorenzo Ransom "Ren" Tesh and Charity Petree Tesh Robertson. Ren is buried at the Matthews Chapel Church of Christ in Winston-Salem with his parents (John and Emma Tesh) and Charity is buried at the Marvin United Methodist Cemetery in Winston-Salem next to her parents (Jesse and Martha Westmoreland Petree).
Oscar died in a hospital in Burke's county, NC with something like TB (White Lung from the granite dust). He died at Black Mountain Sanatorium. He was the father of several children: David, Johnny, Martha, Ruth, Ida, Elizabeth, Oscar (Jr.), Blanche, Betty, Pauline, and Ethel.
When a teenager, Oscar's father was killed in a buggy accident leaving all of the children orphaned. They were sent to an orphanage after Charity remarried and that is where Oscar and Daisy met. I have been unable to find the correct orphanage.
Oscar lived in W-S to begin with and later moved to Surry County, NC where he worked at the Mt. Airy Granite Quarry. He lost his place during the depression and never regained hope of owning another piece of property. He became a share cropper and moved to Pine Ridge where they rented a farm and farmed tobacco. All of the kids had to work on the farm so that they could eat and have a roof over their heads.
