Alfred Wilhelm Christiansen was the seventh and youngest child born to Lars Christian Christensen and Louise (Loise) Lizette Dorthea Augusta Walther. (Danish immigrants). He grew up in Kenmare, Ward County, ND on his parents homestead in Baden Township, Ward County, ND.

He was married in Minnewauken, ND Aug. 7, 1945 to Anna Marie Sundet b. Aug. 31, 1922, "Ann" daughter of Albert Sundet and Cecilia Bergsgaard from Maddock, ND. Alfred attended Danish High School for boys near Kenmare, ND and graduated about 1921.He attended the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND where he received a BA in Economics and was an outstanding basketball star. He also attended Minot State Teacher's College and the University of Missoula, MT.

He taught school at various points in North Dakota and Montana. Alfred entered the Army during WWII. He went into business at Sanish and Hope, ND and in 1945 he and his brother-in-law R. K. Johnson purchased the General Supply Company in Maddock ND. The store had hardware, feed and seed, International Harvester machinery and Chevrolets.Then R. Kenneth Johnson's died in Nov. 28, 1955, the General Supply Company store burned down in March of 1967.

His brother, Christian, urged him to come out west. In 1967 the family moved to Seattle, WA where he operated a laundromat and dry cleaning business at the invitation of his brother, who was also in the dry cleaning business. His wife, Anna, died of a heart attack in May 21, 1990 in Everett WA. Two children were born to Alfred and Anna Sundet Christensen.
