Died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1982, at 11:30 a.m. at his residence. He was 75, a resident of Baton Rouge for 20 years and a former resident of Gilbert. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at Winnsboro First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro, conducted by the Rev. L. G. Chewning. Burial in Oakley Cemetery, near Gilbert.

Survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes Barton, Baton Rouge; two sons, Leroy Barton, Baton Rouge, and Phillip Barton, Wisner; two daughters, Mrs. Myra Calhoun, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Genell Polo, Denham Springs; two brothers, Johnny and Tom Barton, both of Gilbert; two sisters, Mrs. Ida McLaughlin, Winnsboro, and Mrs. Iva Flowers, Gilbert; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 5.
