She was born to the union of John Early and Anna Bell Collins Barton on Jan 10, 1910 near Atlanta, LA and passed from this life Monday, October 23, 2006 in Franklin Medical Center.
She was a member of Gilbert First Baptist Church. She married Harvey Richard McLaughlin on March 11, 1932 in Gilbert. Her hobby was quilting, and was known throughout Franklin Parish as one of the best. In 2000, after moving into Marianna Nursing Home, "Aunt Ida" won the local beauty pageant, and continued to the state competition where she finished in second place.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Barton; husband Harvey McLaughlin; twin sister Iva Bell Barton, and three brothers Morgan Barton, Elmer Barton and Johnny Barton.
She is survived by a brother Thomas Barton and wife Mary of Gilbert. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who will cherish her memories.
Pallbearers will be Billy Barton, Don Barton, Joe Barton, Tommy Barton, Johnny Ezell, Mark Ezell, Shawn Ezell, and W. Paul Lofton.
Honorary pallbearers will be V.J. Casamento, Glen Carroll, Johnny Carroll, Mark Carroll, Louis Ezell, Winton P. Lofton, and Blackie Smith.
