Steve Ethelder Quinney, age 90, passed away in Stockdale on Sunday, March 10, 2002.

He was born to John Jay and Julia (Henry) Quinney on April 24, 1911.

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, "Pa," in every sense of the word, showed his love for the people around him, not through words, but through deeds. A man of principle, he stood tall for the things that he believed and would not waiver from them. Pa was truly his own man. He could often be found in the coffee shop surrounded by family and friends, visiting about things past and things to come, a favorite topic being the railroad.

Pa was truly a man of love, integrity, principle, and was going to be these things regardless of what the world around him thought.

He served in the U.S. Navy, and retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 32 years of service.

He is survived by a daughter, Anna Adams; sons Robert Quinney and wife Joyce, Marvin Quinney and wife Alene, and Will Quinney and wife Johnnie; sisters Viola Shaver and Adelle Matchett; grandchildren Roger and Keith Adams, Lonnie, Pat, Lexi, D'Wayne, JayLee, and Dallas Quinney; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnie L. Quinney; a son, Bennie Ray Quinney; and, granddaughter Karen Denise Quinney.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the Finch Funeral Chapel. Wayne DeDear and Clint Lowery will officiate the service.
