When Robert Elton Quinney was born on March 16, 1941, in Floresville, Wilson, Texas, his father, Steve, was 29 and his mother, Johnie, was 20.


He attended Stockdale High School and then served served in the United States Army stationed in Germany, from 1964-1966.


On July 10, 1965, he married Joyce Nell Robbins. He worked for Braniff Airline for 11 years, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 8 years, but his favorite job by far was working in the oil field for 35 years.


Papa (as his grandkids called him) loved to play dominoes, hunt, fish, and tell stories. Some of his favorite moments were fishing the Guadalupe River with his son, Lonnie and grandson, Taylor. He was loved by all who met him. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed.


He had a son with Mary Christine Faulkner (Lonnie Ray Quinney) and a daughter (Karen "Katy" Denise Quinney) with Joyce Nell Robbins Quinney.


Robert Elton Quinney died on June 13, 2017, at home in Stockdale, Texas, at the age of 76 years, 2 months, 30 days.


Preceded in death by parents, Steve Ethelder and Johnie Louise Quinney; a daughter, Karen "Katy" Denise Quinney; a sister, Indiana Pearl Quinney Adams and two brothers; Bennie Ray Quinney and William Edward Quinney.


Survived by spouse of 52 years, Joyce Nell Robbins Quinney of Stockdale Texas and son, Lonnie Ray Quinney (Phyllis) of Victoria Texas; grandchildren, Taylor Quinney (Ashlynn) and Kasey Correll (Michael); and brother, Marvin Claud Quinney (Alma) of Stockdale Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.


Visitation: Thursday, June 15, 2017, 6pm-8pm, Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale. Funeral services: Friday, June 16, 2017, 10am, Church of Christ, Stockdale, Texas. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Stockdale. Serving as Pallbearers are Kenny, Mike and Glenn Robbins, Lexi, Dwayne, Jay and Dallas Quinney, and Christopher Adams. Honorary Pallbearers are all his domino friends who were a constant source of happiness in his life.
