He was born in Gasconade Co., around 1833 on April 11th and he died in 1887. He was a Civil War Vet. Of the 28th Enrolled Militia of Osage County, Missouri. He married Amanda Hassler, on the 18th day of Jan. 1857 in Linn, Osage Co., Missouri by the Justice of the Peace, Joshua A. Cox. James Owens, he is found in 1850, 1860, 1870 & 1880 of Osage Co,. Missouri - U.S. Federal Census. The family bible has his date of death as April 10, 1887. James had 6 siblings. Two of his brothers were: Stephen "Steve" Owens #19140810 Samuel #19605983
His grandson Henry Hudson Owens made sure that his burial site had a fitting headstone placed to honor his Civil War service. This is according to his great granddaughter Mary Frances. He and his wife had 10 children. 5 girls and 5 boys. Information for this memorial page came from family members, census records, and a newspaper article. He is my direct relative.
