Her obituary reads:

Amanda Owens (nee Hassler) was born in the state of Tennessee Feb. 12th, 1842. With her parents she moved to Calloway County, Mo. in the year 1851. Some years later they moved to Osage County where she spent her remaining days on Earth. She was married to James Owens in 1857, there being born to them 10 children---5 boys and 5 girls, two girls proceeded her husband to the grave, who died in 1887. She joined the Christian church at Cross Roads in 1898 living a Christian until death took her away Tuesday, May 1st, 1906. The remains were entered in the cemetery known has the Bueker graveyard May 2nd, 1906, the funeral service was conducted by J.T. Leach. Our heartfelt sympathies are extended to the bereaved ones left here on earth.
