Virgil L., 81, of Midwest City, passed away Monday, May 12, 1997. He was born October 18, 1915 in Lipscomb Co., Tx. to William & Flora (Widmer) Rose and graduated from Booker High School, Booker, Tx. He was an Army Infantry Veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart twice. He retired from the Military in 1947 as a Captain. He then attended college at the University of Colorado and graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired from Tinker Civ il Service in 1982 after 23 years. He married Esther H. Longhofer June 7, 1945 in Denver, Co. Survived by his wife Esther of the home; 2 sons Dr. Virgil L. Jr. & wife Grace Rose of Raleigh, NC, John W. & Clarita Rose of Houston, Tx; 2 daughters Alexandri a & husband John Miller of Warner, Ok, & Ardene & husband Steve Shafer of Raleigh, NC; 4 grandchildren, Connie & Mark Upton, Mark & Wendy Miller, Amy Miller & Madeline Rose; 3 great grandchildren, Reagan Miller & Kaylie & Amanda Upton (twins); 7 sisters, Vea Fillingim, Wheeler, Tx, Faye Sell, Perryton, Tx, Willa Fillingim, Briscoe, Tx, Joyce Hardage, Chelsea Ok, Elton Fillingim, Prescott, Az, Gay Andler, Lebanon, Mo & Eda Bynum, Pascagoula, Ms. Preceded in death by parents, brother Houston Rose, and sis ter Elma Rives. He was a member and Deacon of First Southern Baptist Church of Del City and taught a Sunday School class for many years. He was also a member of the Bible Fellowship League, Christian Business Men Committee, DAV, and Pearl Harbor Survivor s. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. Okla Affiliate Inc., 6600 S. Yale Ave., Ste 1310, Tulsa, Ok 74136-3346 or First Southern Baptist Church of Del City. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 1997 at First Southern Baptist Church of Del City, with burial in Arlington Memory Gardens.
