Girard -- Lee R. Sellers, 77, of Girard, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Hospital District No. 1 of Crawford County in Girard of heart failure.
He was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Cherokee County to Virgil and Hazel (Doublebower) Sellers.
He attended area schools, graduating from Columbus High School in 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the occupation of Japan. He was honorably discharged.
He was a truck driver for Harvest Brand for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He attended the Christian Church in Girard.

He married Betty Francis on July 2, 1973, at Miami, Okla. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Hightower of LaCygne, Sandy Hudiburg of Pittsburg, Marci VanNess of Garden Plains, and Julia Younger of Kansas City, Mo.; three sons, Paul Sellers of Pittsburg, Phil Sellers of McCune, and Chris Sellers of Cherokee; two step-sons, Charles Dorsey of Boardman, Ohio, and Kent Dorsey of Ponca City, Okla.; one brother, William Sellers of Atchison; one sister, Ella Davis of Bella Vista, Ark.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin daughters, Marilyn and Margaret Sellers.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cherokee City Cemetery with the Rev. Kent Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Friskel Funeral Home in Frotenac. Friends may call the funeral home after 3 p.m. today. Arrangements are under the direction of Friskel Funeral Home.
