Oroville Weekly Mercury, Volume 26, Number 2, 3 July 1896: The funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Bader took place Saturday at 2 p. m. from the I.O.O.F. hall, as the immense crowd of friends present were unable to get within hearing distance at the house. The services were conducted by Rev. A.S. Parsons, whose preaching services she was accustomed to attend; though baptised a Roman Catholic, she died in the Protestant faith. An uncle of the deceased is a general in the Prussian army, another uncle being Superintendent of Instruction for the western half of Prussia, and in the old country she belonged to a prominent family, but she preferred the hardships of a pioneer life in America with her husband and children to a life of luxury in Germany. She was a very diligent business woman, and simply lived for her children. All mourn her loss as a kind and loving friend and a good neighbor to those in need.
