John Monroe
Geneseo - John Monroe, 59, Geneseo community farmer, died Tuesday in the sanatarium at Norton where he had been a patient a year.

Survivors include the widow, May; four daughters, Mrs. Eugene Hicks, Hutchinson, Mrs. Ernest Cormeny, Bloomfield, Ia., Mrs. H.J. Cormeny, Blakesburg, Ia., and Mrs. Walter Droegmeier (sic), Geneseo; five son (sic), John jr., with the army in Korea, Raymond, Geneseo, Bruce, Orville and Francis, all of the home; three brothers.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Methodist church here. Rev. Henry Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in the Geneseo cemetery.

(NOTE: The hospital in Norton was a tuberculosis sanitorium. The family story is that he didn't have tuberculosis, but actually Black Lung from his years in the Iowa coal mines.)
