Thomas is the son to Jonathan Ball and Nancy Sly, who were married February 1, 1830 in Ohio. Thomas has four brothers and a sister, George, John, Alfred, William and Louisa Ball.

Thomas Benton Ball migrated to Mt. Pleasant, Isabella County, Union Township, Michigan. On February 28, 1869, Thomas married Mary Adelaid Johnson in Mt. Pleasant. Mary is the daughter of John Quincy Adams Johnson and Margaret (Sutherland)Johnson. By this marriage, Thomas and Mary had the following children -

Inez L. Ball,
Rose Ball,
Clarence Hugh Ball,
George W. Ball,
Edwin Dwight Ball,
William Bertran Ball
and Robert Perry Ball.

Thomas Ball of Union died Thursday of last week and his funeral was held Saturday. He leaves a wife and several children.
