Jesse F. Calimer, Sr., 74, of 10318 Calimer Drive, Waynesboro, died at 7:06, in the VA Center, Martinsburg, W. Va. He had been in failing health for the past several years and became critically ill in March.
Born May 24, 1922, in Washington Township, he was the son of the late Daniel and Ethel (Zeigler) Calimer. He had lived in the area all of his life.
He and his wife, Mrs. Betty Virginia (Patterson) Calimer, were married Aug. 25, 1945, and moved to the present residence in 1946.
Mr. Calimer first worked at Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing, Hagerstown, and for Keystone Homes Inc. as a carpenter. He then worked at Hess-Stone Supply, Waynesboro. Prior to retiring on Sept. 25, 1980, he returned to Fairchild.
He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, William Max McLaughin VFW Post 695, Order of the Owls Nest 1073, Fraternal Order of Eagles 1758, Eagles Club Inc. and South Chapter 2977, AARP, all of Waynesboro. He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, Chambersburg, and the national AARP.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Brenda Marie Calimer of Zullinger, Vickie Lee Cline of Fayetteville and Lori C. Hardee of Myrtle Beach, N.C.; one son, Ronald E. Calimer of Fort Loudon; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Guessford of Waynesboro, Peggy Stoops of Rye, Texas, and Katherine Walters of Hagerstown; four brothers, Calvin Calimer, Carl Calimer and Gary Calimer, all of Waynesboro, and Alfred Calimer of Kissimmee, Fla; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Jesse F. Calimer, Jr., on May 15, 1986.

Services will be held at 10;30 a.m. Thursday in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Pastor Richard R. Stuempfle officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mont Alto, were military services will be conducted by Chambersburg VFW Honor Guard Post 1599. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.Jesse Fred Calimer, Sr.
