He was born Joseph Adolphe Clement Regimbal, April 16, 1891 in Crookston, Minnesota. He was the son of Fabien Regimbal (1853-1928) and Salome LaBerge (1857-1938) who migrated to Polk county from St-Louis-de-Gonzague, Quebec in 1882.

At the time he was born, the family numbered 8 children. He was 6 years old when they moved to the Moxee area in Yakima county, Washington from Crookston.

They were part of an exodus of French-Canadian immigrants from Minnesota who responded to advertisements for newly opened irrigated farmland in the Yakima Valley. His generation became known as the "box car babies of Moxee", named for the mode of transportation that their parents took to get to the valley.

On September 11, 1914 at the age of 23, he was ordained to the priesthood of the Catholic Church and was named Fr Clement Regimbal OSB.

He performed the first marriage at St. Martin's College Priory in Lacey, Washington. It was for his nephew, Avilla Hilaire Fortier (1895-1987) and his bride, Muriel Charlotte Hutchings (1899-1986) both of Yakima, Washington. Avilla's mother, Sara Regimbal Fortier (1875-1913) was Fr Clement's sister.

Fr Clement was the family historian as well, and produced several papers which were circulated among the known relations in the State. It is from those kernels of information that my generation learned of our forefathers and their families. - M Fortier, great grand nephew
