Clint was the son of John M. and Jane Ann Rogers Griffith and was married to Mary Elizabeth Ray, daughter of Nathaniel Ray. They were parents of four sons and eight daughters: John, Ellen, Alice, Vannah, Claude, Dollie, Hettie, Hattie, Flossie, Bonnie, Maude and a little boy who died in infancy.

Clint was appointed sheriff of Fannin County in 1906, and had a home in Blue Ridge but retained the farm out on the Toccoa River not far from the Dial Community. Some of his daughters taught at the old Dial school.
