Saluda Farmer, D.P. Burnett, Dies At 84
SALUDA – David P. Burnett, 84 died Thursday in a Greenwood hospital after a long illness.
Born in Saluda County, he as a son of the later D.S. and Ida Parkman Burnett. He was a World War 1 veteran and a retired school teacher and farmer. He served as Sunday school clerk and treasurer of Good Hope Baptist Church for several years.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lotti Gunter Burnett of Saluda; two daughters, Mrs. Glen (Jean) Gainey of Johnston and Mrs. W.E. (Carolyn) Boyd of Shelby, N,C,; a son, Donald P. Burnett of Riversdale, Ga; a sister, Mrs. Sue Mae Dubose of Monetta; a brother, LeGrand Burnett of Callison; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. today in Good Hope Baptist Church.
