Born in Bishopstoke, Hampshire, the daughter of George Samuel and Agnes Rowe Early, she and her family came to Montreal in 1910, traveling on the SS Lake Manitoba. She married Reginald Charles Clayson, a clerk for the Canadian Pacific Railroad, in 1926 at St. Cyprian's Anglican Church in Montreal. She and her husband raised two children. She was an accomplished crocheter, making her own lacy doilies and later clothing for her granddaughter's dolls. She made her own jam from the fruit trees in her backyard and canned the vegetables from her garden. She was a member of the I.O.D.E. (Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire). She loved the scent of lavender and carried pink mints in her purse for her grandchildren and was affectionately known as "Ganny".

Dearly beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
