Mr. Andrews was born Aug. 24, 1937, in Harbor Beach, Mich., to Elmer and Ethel Andrews . He attended school in Harbor Beach and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961. They moved to Michigan before returning to Anchorage, where they made their home beginning in 1964. He built onto their original home with his own hands. He knew how to fix or build anything.
