Reuben Edward Adams, of Goose Creek, returned home to his Heavenly Father August 9, 2008.

Born April 11, 1931 in Montgomery County, Georgia, he was the son of R. D. Adams and Bessie Ruth Hamilton Adams Speller.

Reuben was lovingly known as "Sonny" by his family and friends and was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the VFW. He and Shelby Jean Folsom were married for 56 eventful years.

Sonny was a very loving father to his five children, 18 grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. One of the hallmarks of Sonny's life was his finely-tuned moral compass. He interrupted his education at age 17 to serve his country and to help financially support his father who was raising four children on his own. He taught his children and grandchildren the rewards of working hard and living an honest life.

He was a patriotic American and was well-known for his strong conservative political views. Sonny was also just as well-known for debating those views. He didn't hesitate to talk politics with his friends, coworkers, or family. In fact, that was one of his favorite subjects to talk about! He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Part of his wonderful legacy is the children and grandchildren that loved him and gathered around him. Sonny was a quietly supportive man. If he had the ability to help, the answer was always yes.

He always gave people the benefit of the doubt. He loved unconditionally. He loved without judgment. He will be remembered and missed by his family and friends.

Sonny was the husband of Shelby J. Adams and surviving, in addition to her, are three sons, Michael Adams and wife Yolanda of San Antonio, TX, Dr. David Adams and wife Leslie of Bloomington, IN, Erick Adams and wife Palmo of Goose Creek; two daughters, Linda Wagner and husband Tom of Goose Creek and Laurie Sotiroglou and her husband of Goose Creek, SC; two brothers, Robert Adams of Malone, FL and Guyton Adams and wife Lillian of Berlin, GA; eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Interment was in Old Hamilton Cemetery, Kibbee, Georgia.
