Mary M. Damschroder, 80, of Graytown, OH, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. She was born on December 4, 1925 in Burgoon, OH, a daughter of Fred & Iva (Long) Mutchler. A 1944 graduate of the former Burgoon High School, Mary worked at J.J. Newberry's in Fremont. She was a good bowler and enjoyed roller skating. Mary enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers (6000 pair), dolls, stamps and postmarks, Santa Clauses, and many more items. She wove rag rugs for 45 years and crocheted many afghans and lap robes for the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, and Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor. Mary was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, OH., the ladies group of the church, and local garden and card clubs. On June 13, 1947, she married Gilbert Damschroder, and he survives. Also surviving is her son, Fred Damschroder, Graytown; sister, Wanda Nighswander, Bettsville, OH, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Fred, Wayne, and Robert Mutchler. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday. Rev. Lowell Peters will officiate, and interment will be in Union Cemetery, Elmore. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, or the Elmore Historical Society.
