The following information sent by Carol Stevens:

Ernest Brog, 69, an early Star Valley pioneer, died Thursday Dec 12, 1985 from
causes incident to age at Logan, Cache Valley, Utah. He was born March 22,1896 at
Meiringen, Bern, Switzerland the youngest son and child of Niklas and Verena Sulzer
Brog.
Funeral services were held in the Freedom Ward Chapel under the direction of his
youngest son, Bishop Fred Brog, at 12 noon, Monday, Dec 16, 1985 and burial was in
the Freedom Cemetery.
He married Martha Kaufman from Driggs, Idaho in 1925. Their marriage was solemnized
in the Logan LDS Temple on April 2, 1985.
Ernest was raised in Switzerland and worked in several European countries prior to
coming to the United States at age 25where he made swiss cheese in Wisconsin and
later migrated west to Freedom, Wyo. in Star Valley where he lived for 59 years.
Ernest was responsible for pioneering the swiss cheese industry in the western
United States. He later became instrumental in establishing the Lower Valley Power
and Light Company, a cooperative which supplies electrical power in Star Valley,
Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park where he served as founder and president
for many years. He was largely responsible for improving the western entrance and
exit to Freedom, Wyo, The Tincup road which runs between Freedom, Wyo. and Wayan,
Idaho.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Kaufman Brog, four sons and three daughters;
Frank Ernest Brog, Afton; Mrs Rudy (Gayle) Rigler, Sandy, Utah; Mrs Max (Ora)
Porter, North Logan; Roy Alvin Brog, North Logan; Larry Ralph Brog Sandy, Utah; Mrs
Clyde (Rea) Stock, Visalia, Calif, Fred Brog, Freedom.
Ernest is survived by 35 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
Ernest had four brothers and one sister and a son, Paul Ern Brog who all preceded
him in death.
