Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Rusk, under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.
Mr. Essex died Thursday, July 22, 2004 in Tyler. He was born June 24, 1926, in Davenpaort, Iowa.
He was a retired flooring covering mechanic and member of Covespring Baptist Church. He was also a retired employee of Rust State Hospital.
He served in the Navy during WWII, member of American Legion NO. 0293 and a member of the United States LST Association.
Mr. Essex was preceded in death by his parents,
SHERWOOD HENRY ESSEX and Anna MAE BENNETT;
sons,
KEVIN Robert Essex and SHERWOOD LYLE Essex; and a brother.
He is survived by his wife, ARA "Dollie" Essex of Jacksonville;
sons and daughter-in-law
STEVE and Lisa Essex and
BRIAN and Stephanie Essex, all of Jacksonvill;
daughter and son-in-law,
CHAROLETTE / MRS HANK JINKERSON of Modestom Calf.; daughters
LOU ANN STECHER of Lancaster and
SHERRY ESSEX of Van;
best friends, Butch Lindberg and Edward Larsen; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and sister and brother-in-law Charlene and John White.
Pallbearers will be Chad Essex, Stevir Essex, Michael MeKinnes, Josh Essex, Justin Essex and Shane Waites.
Honorary pallbearers are Austin Essex and Levi McInnis.
