Mrs. Essex passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 in Whitehouse.
She was born March 7, 1941 in San Antonio to the late, Robert R. and Mildred (Sword) Young.
She resided in Jacksonville most of her adult life and retired as a therapist from Rusk State Hospital. She loved her church family at Cove Springs Baptist Church, faithfully attending and serving as pianist/organist. She enjoyed gospel music, reading, crafts/sewing, watching baseball games, and spending time with grandchildren and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Sherwood C. Essex and 2 sons.
Survivors include her sons, Steve and wife Lisa of Jacksonville, Brian and special friend, Rhonda of Lufkin; daughters, Charlotte Jinkerson and husband Hank of California, Louann Stecher and husband Butch of Lancaster, Sherry Larsen and husband Eddie, of Van; twenty grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean McGill and husband Owen of Michigan, Nancy Finley and husband Earl of Rusk, Rebecca Foster and husband Rick of Whitehouse, Peggy Zimmerman of Jacksonville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael McInnis, Stevie Essex, Hunter Essex, Joseph Waites, Bill Finley, Ken Finley.
Honorary pallbearers will Levi Essex, Joshua Essex, Shane Waites, and Eddie Larsen.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 9, 2014 with family receiving friends from 4- 6p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Funeral services for Dolly Essex have been scheduled for Monday, February 10, at 1pm 2014 at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 9, 2014 with family receiving friends from 4 to 6pm.
