2-Year Old Muscatine Boy Killed by Auto----
Kevin Robert, 2 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Essex, Jr. was struck and killed by an automobile in front of the Essex home on highway 61, eight miles east of Muscatine at 4:35 p.m. Friday. The child ran onto the highway in front of the west-bound car, route 2. The third traffic fatality in Muscatine county in two days, the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at Muscatine General hospital.
The Essex family had moved into the house, located a short distance east of the intersection with county road P, only two days earlier. The family, consisting of several children had been living at Ripley trailer court, closer to Muscatine.
Whisler, said the boy was alone when he darted up onto the highway from a roadside ditch and into the path of the car
KEVIN ROBERT ESSEX Essex was born Sept. 27, 1963 at Iowa City, the son of SHERWOOD CHESTER ESSEX and Ara IRENE YOUNG Essex.
The body was taken to Fairbanks home for funerals in Muscatine. It is being shipped by air to the Wallace funeral home at Rusk Texas where services are pending.-----
