Paul Perkey, 79, of Hollis, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Stewart Funeral Chapel in Hollis with Chaplain Jesse Forrest officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis. Services are under the direction of Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis.

Paul was born Aug. 21, 1928, to Charles and Gertrude Lassiter Perkey at Sidney, Ark. He graduated from High School in Sidney, Ark. He married Ruth Ford on July 3, 1950, in Cave City, Ark. He entered the U. S. Army on April 17, 1948, and was honorably discharged April 26, 1952. He worked as a chemical plant manager. He was a member of the Date Street Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas, the I.O.O.F., and served as Union President of the AFL-CIO.

Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years(married 7/2/1950 Batesville Arkansas), Helen Ruth Perkey of Hollis; two sons, Michael Dwight Perkey and his wife Lida of Rosharon, Texas, and Donald Rease Perkey of Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Arden Von Perkey of Batesville, Ark., and Billy Don Perkey of Salem, Ark.; five sisters, Clois Ray of Batesville, Ark., Glenn Dell Davis of Pleasant Grove, Ark., Tommie Garland of Batesville, Ark., Monnie Jo England of Batesville, Ark., and Alice Kay Milligan of Russellville, Ark; three grandchildren, Scott Perkey and his wife Amy of Oklahoma City, Kim Perkey of Hereford, Texas, and Daniel Perkey of Rosharon, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Blake Perkey and Kaleigh Perkey.

Mr. Perkey was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Lassiter Perkey; one son, Charles Ernest Perkey; two grandsons, John Tyler Perkey and Mitchell Perkey; one great-grandson, Mason Lynn Perkey; and two brothers, Charles Verl Perkey and Joel James "J.J." Perkey.
