He was a graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy of Hays. He was a Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion and former Elks member, all of Hays. He was a former car salesman at James Motor and an under sheriff in Ellis county.
Survivors include his sons, Mike, Hays, Tom, Salina, and Brad, Orriville, Ohio; a daughter, Pat Klaus, Hays; a brother, Alvin D. Morris, Ill.; two sisters, Marcella Pfannenstiel, Munjor and Henrietta Unrein, Hays, and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and John, a brother, Alfred, and a sister, Minnie Zimmerman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Munjor, with Father Earl Befort officiating; burial with military honors by the VFW at the St. Francis Cemetery, Munjor. A parish vigil service is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation is from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
