The funeral was to be today at 3:30 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home chapel. Burial was to be in the Athens City Cemetery with Everett Conn and Doyle Banta officiating.
Survivors include three sons, Eugene Vassar and Garland Vassar, both of the Capshaw community, and Robert Vassar of Athens; two daughters, Mrs. Martina Ackerman of the Capshaw commuity and Mrs. Pauline Young of Birmingham; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
